My video course recording setup

This is the second in a series of posts in May documenting my process creating an online course. This isn’t a step-by-step tutorial. This isn’t how it’s supposed to be done. I’m not even starting from the beginning. It’s just me sharing what I’m doing. Right now.

Today, I recorded more videos. Three, I think. Four actual clips, two of which will be combined into one video.

I’m using a corded, lapel mic connected directly to my iPhone to record the audio. The mic was like $30 on Amazon, if that. It sounds better than using my phone directly. But otherwise, that’s it.

Minimal.

I originally wanted to do some post-production on the audio. I’ve learned a little about cleaning up audio in Audacity over the years. But that’ll just add more steps. The audio sounds good enough, from what I can tell, so I’m leaving it as is. It matches the nonchalant feel of the videos, me walking around all over the place.

I’m excited.

It feels like there’s a lot of work to do, but getting more footage gives me more to do when I can’t record videos, like at night or early in the morning.
