First, when westerners visit another country, they’re often traveling on a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
When you’re taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip, you tend to spend more than you normally would. You buy the exotic meals, the expensive tours, and all the other stuff that comes with once-in-a-lifetime trips.
Second, if they’re not visiting, then they’re probably getting paid a lot of money.
Some westerners will move to a different country just for the experience, but most will also want some financial incentive. So the westerners who aren’t making a ton of money probably won’t stay long. The westerners who do then, the ones people see the most, are disproportionately wealthy.
Third, compared to the rest of the world, westerners are rich.
