Something I’ve been playing with lately, to-be lists. As you’ve probably guessed, they’re a lot like to-do lists in the sense that you write them out in a list format and attempt to check items off. But that’s where the similarities end.
The point of a to-do list is to get things done. The point of a to-be list is to start to become.
Throughout the day, like with to-do lists, you check items off a to-be list. As you experience that moment when you really feel, say, strong, you cross off item “be strong.”
To-be lists are much more subjective than to-do lists, so sometimes they can be tough to follow or keep up with (as though to-do lists weren’t tough enough).
They come with a different kind of satisfaction, though, when they’re all checked off. When you get to the end of the day and realize you’ve become, at least for that day, what you wanted to become, that’s a wonderful feeling.
