  1. That’s an interesting point, and a sad one for all the fantastic and innovative sites out there that few people know about. Sites like facebook grow exponentially and like things of that nature, the hard part of it all is getting the snowball started. So it’s not necessarily that facebook is better than twitter, myspace or linkedin, its just they have they have the members, which leads to more members. Nice quality over quantity post Marshall!

  2. Thanks, Mr. Longhofer. You’re absolutely right… of course some sites don’t rely on that “social proof” aspect as much – they might work just as well even if only one person’s using it, perhaps better because the competition’s down.

    But for all the sites we usually hear about, that’s just how it is.

    By the way, this started out as a “Top 10 reasons” post, but I realized they all boiled down to this one reason. Frankly, if everyone I knew was on Twitter, that’s where I’d go more often… that’s really the deciding factor.
