That moment when you decide to stay up all night is crucial. You might hate the decision later, but not always. Sometimes it works out to be the right decision.
In my case, I’d guess that more often than not it turns out to be the right decision.
Problem is, I tend to remember the times when it’s the wrong decision better than I remember the times when it’s a right decision. When it’s the right decision, I don’t really pay attention to the decision itself. I’m too focused on remembering the experience instead.
But after it’s all over, the next day or the day after, if I try hard enough, if I remember to try hard enough, I can recall it.
