Not the movie – I’ve never seen it – the actual terms of endearment.
I think (almost) all the normal ones are cheesy. I know that sounds lame, and you can say, “Just wait…”
Fine, we’ll see.
For now, let’s take a look at some of these and really think about them for a second. Here’s a list I came up with:
- Angel
- Babe
- Baby (-cakes, -doll)
- Boo
- Bubbles
- Buttercup
- Cupcake
- Cutie
- Darling
- Dear (-est)
- Doll
- Handsome
- Honey (-bun, -bunch, -pie)
- Hot stuff
- Hottie
- Hubby
- Hun
- Love (-ly, -y)
- Lover boy
- Muffin
- Munchkin
- Peach
- Peanut
- Princess
- Puddin’
- Pumpkin (-pants)
- Snuggle bunny
- Stud (-muffin)
- Sugar (-pants, -plum)
- Sunshine
- Sweet (-cheeks, -heart, -thing)
- Sweetie (-pie)
- Sweets
- Sugar
- Tiger
- Toots
- Wifey
The way I see it, food, especially sweet and sticky food, seems a popular choice. Just an observation.
Now, three questions for you:
- What would you add (whether you’ve used them or just heard them)?
- Which do you like?
- Which do you think is the only one in the list that I like? (10 points to the winner!)
Honey
Hun
1. I have heard one very old wife call her husband “Mr. (Last Name).” That was the only time I have heard a wife refer to her husband so formally. Weird.
2. Hun. It’s the one my parents use. I guess it’s just become natural to hear it.
3. I’m gonna say “darling.”
1. 🙂 My dad actually calls my mom, “Mrs. Jones.” I think he got it from a movie… National Velvet perhaps. Old school. 🙂
2. I’ve heard that one a lot too, and it does seem natural.
3. Nope. I’ll give this until next Sunday to see if I get anymore responses. Otherwise, you win for getting closest. 🙂
Any other guesses though?
Peach.
