So yeah, this is (kinda) the way I actually speak

This is a word for word transcription of something I said as an experiment for posting here. I’ll explain more in the next post, so don’t be too worried if this doesn’t make any sense.

So yeah, this is the way I actually speak. I’ve… I’ve written before about trying to write the way I speak. But that’s not entirely accurate.

See, I realized that I don’t actually speak the way… or I don’t actually… um, write the way that I speak. Because  a lot of times when I write, I’ll take out different words. I don’t want the sentence to be quite as long, quite as drawn out, or whatever. Um, but this is more of an example of how I actually talk.

Because as I’m doing this… the way I’m creating this post is by recording myself and then transcribing that for you to read.

Um, a couple caveats about this, though, is that I’m monologuing. So obviously a monologue is going to be different than a normal… a normal conversation might have.

Um… also, I… I kinda know what I’m talking about, which is sadly a new thing for when I speak. Normally when I’m in a normal conversation just speaking, I don’t know what I’m gunna say until it’s coming right out. So in this case, I kinda planned ahead a little bit. I mean, I didn’t really think of things word for word, but I… I definitely knew what I was going to talk about.

Um… and there was something else that I was going to say, but I can’t remember what it was, so we’ll just leave it at that for now. Tomorrow, I’m going to come back through and kind of analyze some of this to show you some ways where I’ve taken what I do say and used that in my… in my writing, but also some of the differences that… that I do purposely different when I write instead of when I speak.

One other thing that I forgot to mention is that when I’m speaking here, I don’t have a whole lot of emotion in my voice ’cause I am just monologuing. It’s not… um, it doesn’t have the emotion behind it, so I… I don’t say the things like “seriously” or… or “fantastic” or whatever.

Um… so just some things to think about. Hopefully this post will come through. That’s it for now.
