Need your help – How can I replace "just"?

I use the word “just” way too often. And I know it.

I know it’s a weak word, and every time I see it pop up in my writing, I wonder how I can remove it. Problem is, I never come up with an answer.

I’ve googled it, I’ve looked it up in books, and now I’m asking you… because I don’t know how to get rid of it. Everywhere I look, I only see advice to remove it – nothing tells me what to do instead. And in many cases, just removing it won’t do.

So please, help me out here. How can I replace “just” in my writing?

Any suggestions would be great, even if you don’t think they’re that great. Also, I’d appreciate it if you could spread the word for me or ask around so we can get some kind of answer.

Thanks.

  1. ‘And in many cases, simply removing it won’t do’ … ?

You could also try a thesaurus.

  2. Yeah, I mean I come up with a few that way, but I don’t want to JUST put in “simply” or “only” because I think they’re JUST as bad.

Maybe JUST switching up the variety between “just” and “simply” and “only” would help out.

Okay, I’m goofing off with the JUST’s now. Thank you for the suggestion.
