Hi, my name is Marshall, and I’m looking for a job.
For the past couple years, I’ve taught English overseas. I’m not looking for that kind of job. In fact, a college in Saudi Arabia sent me an entire contract ready to sign, but I turned it down. I’m not sure I’ve left ESL for good, but I know it’s not the direction I want to pursue right now.
Instead, I’m looking to work at a university here in Louisville. I’m not necessarily wanting to teach, although I’m not opposed to that either. Still, I’m hoping to find work with an intercultural program on the administration side, perhaps advising students or just overseeing some of the logistics of getting them through school or helping them, you know, expand their horizons.
For what it’s worth, I have like three degrees, each in separate fields. I’m kind of a fan of learning, even if it is institutionalized.
I have a number of reasons for wanting to pursue that kind of work too. Maybe I’ll get into some of those reasons sometime (or I’ll tell you if you ask). For now, I mostly have just two reasons for wanting work. They’re pretty simple:
- Cash flow
- Credit rating
I have a chunk of change saved from working abroad, but I’d like to avoid cutting into that. I need some cash flow to be able to support myself without the savings.
Perhaps more importantly for me at this point, I think I need a job to help get better credit. I want to buy a house, with a loan, and getting one of those isn’t all that easy without a job. Well, I guess in some cases it can be. Let’s just say it will be a lot easier for me when I have a job.
Looking at just those two reasons, it doesn’t seem like I really need to work at a university. It doesn’t really seem like I need to work anywhere in particular. Most jobs would allow me cash flow and boost my credit.
So, all that to say, I’m looking for a job. If you know of one or where I can find one or how I can get one or who I can contact about one, let me know. I have some preferences, but I’m not going to be too picky right now. I mostly just need the cash and the credit.
