“Koh” means island. “Chang” means elephant.
When I first heard about Koh Chang, I figured I should probably make it my last stop on this voyage through southeast Asia. It’s not touristy enough for the beaches to be completely overrun with tourists yet, but it’s still easy enough to get around and find a place to stay.
That, and it’s Elephant Island. Although elephants don’t live there natively, they’ve brought a bunch over for various treks through the jungles. Islands, elephants, jungles, treks? What’s not to love?
Especially the elephants. I love elephants – they’re my theme. After the Marshall Islands, Koh Chang is probably as personally cool as it gets for me.
