I think she meant it negatively, but it hit me when I read this that it’s actually a recipe for learning bravery. Force yourself into situations where the only options are be brave or be killed.
Sink or swim. It’s not always the best advice for learning something new, but it’s pretty good when courage is the only thing holding you back.
