I ask my wife this all the time.
“Are we getting better, or are we getting worse?”
If we’re getting better, it’s a good day. If we’re getting worse, why? Can we reset or recalibrate so we get better tomorrow?
When we have a direction to set our bearings and some level of tracking to assess whether we’re moving forward or backward, closer or further from that direction – getting better or getting worse – it’s so much easier to answer this question constructively and, almost by default then, get better.
