Yesterday I learned a new (to me) law. It’s called Godwin’s Law.
Godwin’s Law: as an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.
We all know that when an argument heats up, the arguers tend to attack one another. A well-timed Nazi comparison immediately shines black light on the opposing position, while indirectly calling anyone who holds that position a Hitler.
Attacking your opponent is one thing. Just please don’t attack with a Hitler/Nazi comparison. You lose credibility when you do, even if the comparison is accurate.
Hitler, like sports, is too cliche for comparison. :>)
