When I lived in Korea, I became close friends with, well, probably a dozen people, actually, but one in particular. About halfway through my stay, he got engaged to a wonderful Korean woman, another one of my close friends.
And then of course, I found out their wedding would take place about two and half months after I planned to leave. So I had a decision to make.
I decided to stick around.
It didn’t hurt that I ended up trekking through southeast Asia for five weeks in the interim. It also didn’t hurt that I got another chance to hang out with some close friends for another week in Korea when I returned.
But even without those other benefits, I still like the decision. Just a reminder to myself: always try to make weddings, especially for close friends.
(And I’m publishing this from Dallas, Texas, having just driven here from Kentucky in a day for… yeah, another wedding. I like this decision too.)
