When we interviewed to teach English for McGill with the Royal Commission in Saudi Arabia, they told us we’d get free Arabic classes. I remember because I asked specifically about it. I remember because others here asked the same question, both in the interview and once they got here.
Evidently, they had some classes a while ago. Guys stopped attending because the teacher was lame. Then they canceled the classes. Since then, new hires have wondered about them and waited for them.
Finally, just a few days ago, they announced that they’re supposedly going to offer the classes again. I don’t know if that means they’re with the same teacher or what. I don’t really know anything about the classes. But I signed up.
We’ll see how this goes. If nothing else, I’d like to learn a few basic phrases, enough to play around with the language when I meet people who speak Arabic. I don’t need it for any practical reason.
