If you’re really happy for 10 days in a row and then look back and can’t remember accomplishing much in that time, you can suddenly feel disappointed even though the day to day felt good.
It’s like playing a video game for 12 hours and loving it only to realize at the end that it’s 3:46am and you feel like you wasted the day.
“We have no scar to show for happiness.”
It’s like we need a checkmark on a calendar to say, “Yep, I had a great day today. I was really happy.”
That way, at the end of the 10 days, we’ll look back, see the checkmarks, and equate them with progress and accomplishment, realizing, “Yeah, that was a great run of 10 days. I was really happy then.”
Maybe we could call those checkmarks “happiness scars.”
