Why I studied Philosophy

Philosophy is just plain snobbish. Seriously, the stereotype describes an arrogant, coffee-drinking thinker who uses big words, bucks authority, and can’t hold a steady job because of his annoying debates over the nature of metaphysical reality.

It’s the ultimate BS BA.

“Ah, but why…?”

Ironically, I got into Philosophy because of a specific subsection within the field called Ethics. Ethics is about right and wrong. It’s about how to live a virtuous, moral life.

I studied it because I was fascinated by these internal dynamics that play into our decisions. It still fascinates me. I still study it.
