Traveling to meet people who are the same as us

Why do we travel?

To see the world. To meet new people. To experience others cultures. To learn what’s different.

While there are tons of reasons we travel for fun, one that doesn’t often get mentioned is the desire to travel to meet people who are the same as us.

I don’t think it gets mentioned because most of us don’t know about it until after we start traveling. I certainly didn’t know I’d run into all these people who are the same as me. But now that I’m traveling, it’s one of the best parts about it.

I meet people who love seeing the world. I meet people who love meeting new people. I meet people who love experiencing new cultures. I meet people who love learning what’s different.

When we’re back home, we don’t run into these people. They’re there. They’re still traveling through. We just don’t notice them or interact with them as much. When we’re traveling, though, we meet these people who are the same as us. They remind us who we are, connect with us, and keep us traveling.
