The Wannado list: Yeah, you need one of these too

This is your wishlist of things you “want to do.” You might even think of it as your list of things you’d like to do.

I think a lot of people get into trouble because they combine the Wannado list with the Do list. They want to do so much, these items seem so exciting, that they can’t bear to keep them off. But then their Do list gets all crazy long, filled with items they’ll never actually do. And seeing all those unfulfilled plans gets depressing.

So separate the lists. Thing is, you need both. You’ll never make an inspiring Do list if you don’t dream big from the beginning. That’s what the Wannado list is for.

Get crazy. Let your imagination go wild. If something’s interesting to you, add it. If you think you might want to do it, add it. Don’t edit much.

Also, since this is just a Wannado list, don’t worry too much about being precise. If you can include specific details, great. But don’t let the details slow you down here. If you want to learn a language, add that, even if you don’t know what language or what “learn” actually means.

This list will grow ridiculously long. That’s okay. That’s what it’s for: ideas. So use your imagination.

[Update: Don’t share this list with anyone.]
