Siem Reap, Cambodia

So I’ve officially made it into my ninth country overall, the last new one in this round of travels through southeast Asia.

  1. United States
  2. Mexico
  3. Canada
  4. South Korea
  5. Japan
  6. North Korea
  7. Thailand
  8. Laos
  9. Cambodia

So far, I’m likin’ the list. I have some big countries (USA and Canada), some small countries (Cambodia and Thailand), some rich (Japan and South Korea), some poor (Mexico and North Korea), and some some people have never heard of before (mostly just Laos).

It’s been an amazing ride so far. I rested a bit yesterday, so today I was pumped to get out and about again. And it was a crazy capstone for the pyramid: I toured the temples around here. (Update: I finally got my photos up on Facebook too, if you’re curious.)

As I walked and drove (or really, was driven) around the place, I kept thinking to myself that the temples here are just as impressive if not more impressive than what’s in Egypt or Greece or wherever. Egypt and Greece just get the press. I’m so thankful I made it here now, while it’s still relatively new to American tourism.
