Oh, right, I made it to Ecuador

Not only did I make it to Ecuador without publishing about it here, I even crossed the equator for the first time too. The equator cross felt less than amazing. I wanted there to be a nice bar-n-grill on the border, welcoming guys like me to buy some grub and stumble across some line painted on the floor.

My crossing turned out to be a little different. I crossed in a bus. Without knowing it until later.

I’m still glad I got to do it. I’m still crossing it off my Done list.

Beyond the equator, I’m enjoying Ecuador so far. I’m staying with a missionary who’s been here 29 years. And talking with her reminds me that this is the country where Jim Elliot was killed.

Jim Elliot is one of my heroes. My favorite quote is something from him:

“Wherever you are, be all there. Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God.” -Jim Elliot

I’m not sure I’ll have as much of an impact here as he did, but I’m glad I’m here anyway.
