Language learning isn’t all-or-nothing

“I don’t see language learning as an all-or-nothing endeavor…” Benny the Irish Polyglot

I like that quote. Instead of thinking of language learning as a pursuit of learning a language, I like defining it more practically as a means to a specific goal.

You might want to learn enough to order a meal in your target language. Some student might want enough to take a university course in that language

Whatever the aim, I like the idea of keeping that goal the goal, instead of some nebulous challenge to “learn a language.”
