Grandpa’s swing

Grandpa Jones used to have a swing. This was back at his first house in Kentucky. He had tied ropes to a tree in his front yard and attached the swing to the ropes.

It was a tall swing, taller than I remember swinging on before that point in my life. In fact, it was actually a little scary.

I remember I couldn’t get started on my own because of the length of the ropes. The ropes were so long that they kept me nearly parallel with the ground for a while before gently picking me up into the air.

So instead of going at it alone, I always got some help. I’d swing and swing while someone else pushed me.

When I’m a grandpa, I’m going to have a swing like that. I’m going to push my grandkids on it too and tell them all about my grandpa’s swing. I hope they enjoy it as much as I did.

  1. When I will be a grandma, I will cook my grandma’s dishes and tell my kids about all the fun my grandma and I had… Dang. I miss her.
