Eeny, meeny, miny, moe: Working in God-mode

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe
Catch a tiger by his toe
If he hollers, let him go
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe

It’s a kids’ nursery rhyme used to choose who’s “it” in games like Tag or Hide-N-Go-Seek. I learned a couple versions of it back when I was like 7-years-old. Now I use it in class.

I select the first student to read by Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moeing around the room.

Thing is, I know (and have known ever since I was like eight) how the rhyme works out. The kids mostly still think the outcome is random because they haven’t memorized the rhyme yet. But I know exactly who I’m choosing when I start.

Is that what God-mode feels like? Because I still have this nagging feeling that I’m lying to the kids and should quit.
