It’s been said that it’s hard to shop for gifts for Marshall.
I don’t like collecting physical things. I prefer experiences.
The difficulty is that experiences are a lot harder to purchase and coordinate than your standard tie clip.
For this past birthday, my parents purchased ticket for me to see David Blaine, the illusionist / endurance artist. What a great present!
But then I looked at the date on the tickets: July 12. That’s today, the day I’m up in New England on our trip.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make the show. I gave the tickets to my brother instead, for them to enjoy.
This hasn’t happened often for me, if ever, but this is definitely the best birthday present I didn’t get to see.
