American coins, foreign perspective

“Are U. S. coins the only coins in the world that don’t show right on them how much they’re worth?”

Think about it. Except for the penny, you just have to know the values.

The sizes don’t help. The quarter’s the largest, but the dime, the second largest in value, is the smallest in size.

The names don’t help either. Again, the quarter makes a little sense, but only if you’re quick with math. What’s up with the dime? How does that name relate to how much it’s worth? What about the nickle?

The penny isn’t even worth a penny – it’s worth one cent.

I grew up with American money. I learned to count it when I was like 5-years-old. But imagine a foreigner’s perspective.
